I write because a day without writing feels like a day wasted.
I write to create new worlds to immerse my self in.
I write to live more fully, because I believe that reading and writing expand life.
I write to record my impressions of the places I visit, so that they don’t remain merely as faded memories,
and for all my senses can relive those moments.
I write to pause and reflect, and to organize my thoughts.
I write to analyze my past and imagine my future.
I write to capture the present.
I write to take my readers on a journey through time and space.
I write because I love the smell of paper and the magic of ink taking the shape of my thoughts.
I write because I like the click-clack of the computer keys.
I write to indulge myself.
I write because I would write even if I were on a desert island.
I write to play with words, to let them bounce off my palate, to watch them intertwine, and then let them
fade away in concentric circles.
I write to exercise my mind and stay young.
I write to strengthen the imagination that protects us from the pitfalls of technology.
I write so my mind doesn’t grow dull.
I write to stay alert and attentive.
I write to preserve my ability to observe in a historical moment that is making us increasingly passive.
I write because the need for storytelling is as old as humanity itself.
I write because we need to tell stories and listen to them just as much as we need to eat and drink.
I write to learn.
I write to be a better person.
I write because I can’t help myself, but that’s the most obvious reason.
